Am 22. Januar 2007 hat Herr Hougue, der Direktor unseres Gymnasiums, Schülern aus meiner Klasse ihr Diplom für Sprachkompetenz übergeben.
Dieses Datum wurde in Erinnerung an den 22. Januar 1963 gewählt, als der französische Präsident de Gaulle und der deutsche Kanzler Adenauer den Freundschaftsvertrag zwischen Deutschland und Frankreich unterschrieben. Das Zeugnis, das sie bekommen haben, bescheinigt ihre Kenntnisse in der deutschen Sprache. (more…)
The French High School exam: a lot of stress? 25 January 2007

In life, a lot of events can cause stress: moving, getting a new job, and for us, pupils of ‘Terminale’ (the senior year in a French high school), taking the ‘bac’!
First, it is a lot of stress BEFORE taking it because there’s a lot of homework to do, and the teachers, and the parents… Even if the teachers are here to help us, sometimes they discourage us when they give us a bad mark. So, we work harder but they don’t always see it! There are also our parents who put a lot of pressure on us, ‘If you don’t work harder, you’ll fail!’. They say that to ‘motivate’ us, to make us do better, to urge us to surpass ourselves, but I must say that in my case, it doesn’t work! (…) (more…)

Un grupo de estudiantes de la clase de seconde 3 del Lycée Alexis de Tocqueville en Grasse quiso conocer la ciudad de Imperia y envió una serie de preguntas a sus compañeros italianos. Giorgia y Daniela de la clase 4^A del Istituto Carlo Amoretti de Imperia respondieron las preguntas y presentaron su bonita ciudad.

wir sind eine Gruppe von französischen Schülern in Grasse, in Südfrankreich, und wir haben euren Text „Warum reisen junge Polen ins Ausland?“ in unserer Zeitschrift „Babelia“ gelesen – danke für euren Artikel! In der Deutschstunde haben wir darüber gesprochen; leider wissen wir nicht viel über Polen, wir haben also unsere Informationen gesammelt, denn zwei Mitschüler waren schon einmal in Polen:

Ich kenne ein bisschen Polen, denn ich war 2005 mit meiner Familie in eurem Land; es regnete sehr oft…. Wir haben Posen, Breslau, Krakau und Danzig besichtigt, und ich kenne eure Fußballmannschaft, weil ich sie bei der Weltmeisterschaft gesehen habe. (more…)

Hi! We are five guys of 4/B L (“L” stands for “Linguistico”), at “MARCO POLO” High School.
This is the new name of our school, which was called “6th ITC“ until October, and before that “Giulio Cesare”, because it was a side building of another school. Our school is blue and for this reason it is familiarly called “The Smurfs’ School’ (which is ”Scuola dei Puffi” in Italian).
We are very happy to write for the magazine! It’s a great idea!!
Our school is divided into two courses. “technical commercial” (where pupils specialise in accounting, economics, computer science, ICT) and “linguistic” (where pupils specialise in foreign languages).In the language course you can choose two favourite languages among French, Spanish and German, while English is the first foreign language for everybody.
There are a lot of subjects, for example: Maths, Physics, Law, Philosophy, Chemistry, Biology etc.. , and our school day is quite long: six periods (55 minutes each) with one very short break after the third … just five or ten minutes! We start at 8:15 in the morning and finish at 1:40 p.m., and we have lunch at home.
Every week we have one period with a native speaker (for each language) and another hour to go to the multimedia lab where there are computers; we watch films in the original languages, we surf the Internet and do research about foreign cultures.
In the afternoon the school organises courses in music, ICT, sports, and also specific courses for certificates in foreign languages. There are also optional language courses: Latin, Arabic, Chinese.
The school has three floors and a basement.
In the basement there are two gyms; on the ground floor there is an auditorium, the teachers’ room, the principal’s and other offices, and a few classrooms; on the first and second floors there are classrooms, labs, and the library. We don’t have a cafeteria, just vending machines.

Le concours de la Résistance et de la Déportation 16 January 2007

Comme chaque année, le lycée Alexis de Tocqueville participe au concours de la Résistance et de la Déportation. Ce concours a pour but de sensibiliser les élèves sur la seconde guerre mondiale et la Résistance ainsi que de développer l’esprit de recherche et de synthèse.
En cette année scolaire 2006-2007, le thème proposé porte sur le travail dans l’univers concentrationnaire nazi. A quelles tâches étaient assignés les détenus? Dans quelles conditions? Au lycée, nous avons choisi de traiter les questions suivantes: le travail des femmes dans les camps nazis, le travail dans le camp d’ Auschwitz, Oskar Schindler, les entreprises allemandes au service du nazisme. Nous devons rendre nos productions – compte rendu, diaporama ou video- avant le 30 avril 2007. Nous en sortirons tous enrichis et les meilleurs d’entre nous seront récompensés.
